Products from Wicklein

The traditional company Wicklein is the oldest gingerbread bakery in Nuremberg, Germany. The history of the Nuremberg gingerbread and confectionary factory Gottfried Wicklein can be up to 1615 to trace: to Joachim Jaeckel, the company acting as an Lebküchnermeister in Auerbach. His son Hans Jaeckel worked since 1634 as Lebküchner in Nuremberg and married Barbara Nußberger, the widow of a gingerbread factory owner, Christian Mair. Through this marriage Jaeckel took over the operation of the existing since 1611 Mairs. The Jaeckels led the company through several generations, to Gunda Jaeckel (1889-1953), wife of the gingerbread factory owner Gottfried Wicklein. Was succeeded by son Charles Wicklein, who led the operation along with Christa Walter (born as Wicklein) and destroyed in World War II factory facilities in the Bucherstraße rebuilt.

After his death was Christa Walter sole company boss. Their son Ernst-August Walter led the company together with his sister Christa Eder (born as Walter) from 1972 to 1988. Since 1988, the gingerbread and confectionary factory Gottfried Wicklein belongs to Gingerbread Schmidt.
