In 1892, Dresdner entrepreneur Karl August Lingner brought the mouthwash Odol on the market, means that for the first time with the medical cosmetic effect linked by the addition of essential oils by the addition of an antiseptic. Inventor of the respiratory water was Richard Seifert. On March 5, 1895, the Odol mark was registered as "dental and oral cleaning agent" in the German trade mark register. End of the 1930s Odol was produced in more than twenty countries.
Under the Roof of GlaxoSmithKline Odol has become the largest oral hygiene brand in Germany. Today Odol claimed a share of about 70 percent of the mouthwash market and has made his this way to a roof brand. Among other things, various toothpastes are available and dental chewing gums.
