Based on an original recipe developed by pharmacist Dr Carl Soldan, it is an established household remedy used to clear the airways and aid the respiratory system. The special thing about "aecht Bayrischer Blockmalz" is that the malt sugar is boiled over an open fire, just as it was in bygone days, and then broken into bite-sized chunks. The resulting malt lozenge may have its own peculiar ridges and edges but it is real tonic for the throat and larynx, to say nothing of its traditional flavour reminiscent of a bygone era.
